A second half brace from Warren Harris ensured the Gs stayed top of the league, with 7 wins out of 7. Godalming had the better of the first half, with Scott Harris firing over early on, then being denied when through one on one by a good save from the Barton keeper. George Short and Jamie McClurg also forced smart saves out of the Rovers’ keeper, but the Gs failed to find the breakthrough.
Godalming took the lead 5 minutes into the second half, when Warren Harris struck a half-volley from just outside the area, which found the back of the net off the inside of the post. Warren made it 2-0 7 minutes later after he struck from a similar position to his first, leaving the Barton keeper no chance as it found the corner of the net. Darren Wheeler nearly made it three soon after, but he fired his effort just over the bar.
Godalming face Chertsey at Wey Court this Tuesday in the league, kick off 7.45pm.
