Beaconsfield SYCOB 0-2 Godalming Town

Godalming easily dispatched last season’s Southern Central play-off finalists Beaconsfield SYCOB with a confident performance. The Gs tested out the host’s keeper early on, with Dan Read twice going close. Antonio Simeone gave Godalming a well deserved lead with a 25 yard free kick that whistled into the corner of the net. Read and Dyer both had decent efforts before half time, but the score remained 1-0.

The second half continued in the same vein, with Gs keeper Jake Somerville largely untested. Saturday’s goalscorer Darren Wheeler hit the crossbar with a looping cross that caught out the SYCOB keeper, but Scott Harris sealed the points with a rasping volley 15 minutes from the end.

Godalming welcome Ryman South side Ramsgate to Wey Court this Saturday in the FA Cup Preliminary Round, before hosting local rivals Fleet Town on bank holiday Monday. Both kick off at 3pm.
