Godalming made the long trip to face Bodmin in the FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round on Saturday. In front of a 300 strong crowd, the home side took the lead after 13 minutes when Adam Carter met Luke Rundle’s cross. Carter could have double their lead not long after, but his shot hit the post when it seemed easier to score. The lively Darren Wheeler punished Bodmin, after a tricky run, he fired the ball low past Kevin Miller into the bottom corner.
Wheeler was causing the Bodmin defence problems with his pace, and he was brought down by Miller in the area, and the referee had no hesitations pointing to the spot. Wheeler stepped up to take the penalty, but it was well saved to the keepers left. Gavin Smith grazed the top of the bar with a shot, but despite plenty of pressure, the Gs could not find a winner.
The two sides, who will both be in tomorrows 4th round draw, will now meet again this Tuesday (18th) at Wey Court, 7.45pm kick off.
