Godalming were comprehensively beaten by title-chasing Bognor Regis at Nyewood Lane on Tuesday. The Gs, missing suspended captain Adam Foulser and the injured Guy Hollis went 1-0 down after only 6 minutes when James Crane finished a Ben Johnson cross. Jamie Norris saved well from a close range header, and Godalming had a chance at the other end, only to be denied by Stoner in the Bognor goal. League top scorer Jason Prior got Bognor’s second after a shot rebounded off the post, leaving him with a simple finish. James Crane scored his second just before half time with a neat finish one on one.
Any hopes of a second half comeback were soon dashed when Steve Harper volleyed home at the far post. Scott Harris had a chance to pull one back for the Gs, but again Stoner was equal to the effort. Ben Johnson made it five for the Rocks when he chipped over Norris in the 56th minute. Godalming had the better of possession for the closing stages, with Warren Harris firing a volley narrowly wide. The hosts scored their sixth on 87 minutes when Steve Harper finished from close range.
