A Jamie McClurg brace, sandwiched between goals from Dan Read and Darren Wheeler gave the Gs a convincing 4-0 victory over Burgess Hill.
Godalming got off to a flying start when Dan Read fired Godalming ahead after only 3 minutes. Jamie McClurg then doubled Godalming’s lead with a stunning strike from outside of the area which found the top corner of the net. McClurg got his second, and Godalming’s third 5 minutes later with another strike from outside of the area, this time in the bottom right hand corner. Despite spells of pressure from the hosts, they failed to create any clear cut chances. Darren Wheeler grabbed the Gs fourth, with an excellent run and finish after 85 minutes, but there was still time for Burgess Hill to miss a penalty, which was sent wide of the post.
Godalming travel to Bognor on Tuesday night, and will be hoping to keep up their rich vein of scoring.
