For the fourth league game running, a late goal dashed Godalming’s chances of getting three points.
Adam Foulser went close early on for the Gs, but his close range header went narrowly wide. Johnnie Dyer also tested the keeper with a low effort, forcing a comfortable save. Chalfont had chances in what was an even, yet scrappy half.
Godalming came out with a bit more purpose in the second half, and were nearly rewarded when Dan Read headed wide from a Wheeler cross. Another cross from Wheeler a few minutes later found Warren Harris at the back post, whose downwards header bounced up into the top corner. Not long after it was 2-0, when a free kick out wide was knocked into the path of Johnnie Dyer, whose initial effort was spilt by the Chalfont keeper, but Dyer tapped in the rebound. With 15 minutes left Chalfont scored a penalty after a foul by Jon Palmer in the area. Chalfont then scored the equaliser with 5 minutes remaining, when a shot deflected off Guy Hollis and past Jake Somerville.
Godalming XI: Somerville, Broome, Hollis, Foulser, Lake (Palmer), Edwards, McClurg, W.Harris, Wheeler, Dyer, Read (S.Harris). Subs not used: Cooper, Baker, Simeone.
Godalming welcome second placed Daventry Town to Wey Court this Saturday, kick off 3pm.
