Godalming Ladies 3  Clapham 0

G.T.F.C. Ladies were back in action in the league on Saturday against Clapham who were on the top of the League prior to kick off, but the G’s Ladies returned to the top again by the end of the game.

It was another good performance by the G’ against much stronger opposition. The G’s first goal came from a Carys Potter who headed home form a great Megan Vincer corner.

The second goal came from some hard work by Ellen Thomas before the ball was finally blasted into the net by Jess Pickett when it was tantalisingly close to the goal line.

Whilst for much of the game Toni West was subdued by some strong defending she made her mark with the last goal where she found herself in possession of the ball in the middle of the pitch and hit a cracking shot from just inside the area into the top right-hand corner of the net.

The G’s all put in a good shift in defence and had to be strong against quite a physical opposition, but were able to break down most of the visitor’s attacks.

Onwards to another League game next week away at Brentford before another round of the FA Cup at Wey Court against Haringey from the Premier League at Wey Court on 8th October.
