Godalming ran out 3-0 winners at Corinthian Casuals, thanks to second half goals from Gavin Smith (2) and Scott Harris. It was Scott Harris’s younger brother Warren – signed on dual registration from Staines Town, who was causing the Casuals defense problems early on. His pace down the right allowed him to put in a number of crosses that troubled the Casuals defense. The Gs best chance of the half came when Warren Harris’s shot was well blocked from close range.
Godalming took the lead after 52 minutes when Gavin Smith cut in and fired past former Godalming keeper Matt Mann. Scott Harris doubled the lead two minutes later, beating the Casuals defender to the ball and firing past Mann. Smith got his second on 72 minutes, when Scott Harris’s tackle on the edge of the box set up Smith, who cooly round the keeper and slotted home. A late incident involving players from both teams saw Gavin Smith sent off for Godalming, and Scott Hassell and Jamal Carr for Corinthian Casuals.
Next up for Godalming are Whitehawk at Wey Court on Tuesday, kick off 7.45pm.
