A long Friday night trip to foggy Daventry saw the Gs come back with all three points after goals from Warren Harris and Johnnie Dyer. The Gs started well, with Scott Harris having the best of few chances created from the early pressure. Ashley Robinson went close for the hosts from a swift counter attack, when his effort hit the side netting. The home side took the leads just after the half hour mark, when Ashley Robinson fired a dipping shot from 25 yards which flew over Somerville and dipped, clipping the underside of the bar as it went it. Warren Harris then has a shot well saved by keeper Richard Morris, before he then won a free kick on the edge of the area. Warren took the kick himself, and smashed a powerful effort straight into the top corner, leaving the keeper no chance.
One minute into the second half and Godalming took the lead via Johnnie Dyer. Dyer came in from the right flank, and finished well one on one past Morris. The Gs had a couple of chances to extend the lead through Read and Lake, but Daventry piled on the pressure for the last 20 minutes, with Somerville making some important blocks to keep them at bay.
Godalming travel to Aylesbury on Tuesday night, before hosting Leighton next Saturday.
