A 95th minutes equaliser from Lance Smith denied Godalming all three points at Evesham on Saturday, after a first half goal from Mark Watkins had given the Gs the lead.
Godalming make a confident start to proceeding, with the lively Mark Watkins going close early on, firing an effort into the side netting. Watkins went close again soon after when he was inches away from prodding the ball past the oncoming Evesham keeper, Louie Barnfather. Godalming made the breakthrough on 29 minutes, when a backheel from Darren Wheeler fooled the Evesham defence, leaving Graeme Purdy to cross the ball low, and Mark Watkins to side foot the ball into the far corner. Godalming had a golden chance to double their lead ten minutes later, but Graeme Purdy headed over the bar totally unmarked from 8 yards.
The second half saw Godalming become less adventurous, with the hosts having the better of the play, despite struggling to test Zaki Oualah often. Joey Smith fizzed an effort narrowly wide for Evesham, whilst Ben Evans also fired an effort straight into the hands of Oualah. With the clock winding down Darren Wheeler nearly sealed the points with an improvised lob, but in the fifth minute of injury time, Evesham equalised. A right wing cross eluded Oualah leaving Lance Smith to head home at the far post.
Godalming travel to Paulton, Didcot and Shortwood before returning for their penultimate home match against Stratford Town.
