A Chris Musgrove hat-trick saw the Gs successful start to pre-season continue at Farnham Town last night.
After an even start to the match,left-back Musgrove gave the Gs the lead on the half hour mark with a header from Broome corner. Farnham then rattled Godalming’s crossbar, before Musgrove doubled the Gs lead with another header from a corner. Two minutes later and Mark Watkins was fouled in the area, leaving Jack Broome to convert from the spot. Musgrove completed his hat-trick just before half time, with a right footed effort from 25 yards that dipped just under the crossbar – leaving the keeper no chance.
Changes were made at half time, with Sam De St Croix coming on a right back, Justin Courtnage replacing Tom Boyle, Richard Taylor into defence and Graeme Purdy replacing Paul Coventry up front. Farnham pulled a goal back early in the second half, with the forward finishing well into the corner past Courtnage. Purdy had an effort well tipped over by the Farnham keeper, which was the closest Godalming came to adding to the scoreline.
Godalming travel to East Preston this Saturday, before hosting Farnborough at Wey Court on Tuesday.
