Two first half goals were enough for Clevedon to leave Wey Court with all three points, despite being reduced to ten men early in the second half. Godalming had a bright start to the game, with Dan Read and Jack Mazzone both forcing saves from Clevedon keeper Kane Mannings. Despite the early pressure, Dan Harvey gave the visitors the lead on ten minutes, heading home a free kick. Clevedon doubled their lead on 31minutes, when Issac Reid tricked his way through the Godalming defence to fire an unstoppable shot into the top corner.
Graeme Purdy hit the post at the start of the second with a shot on the turn, with Jack Mazzone having a follow up well saved. Clevedon were reduced to ten men soon after when Matt Thorne was involved in an off the ball incident. Godalming failed to take advantage of the extra man, with the Clevedon defence looking comfortable, restricting the Godalming attack to a few half chances. Chris Wales came close to pulling a goal back, but his downward header was well saved by Mannings. Graeme Purdy had a header disallowed from a corner for Godalming late on, after the referee ruled that the keeper was being blocked off.
Godalming travel to title-chasing Cirencester Town this Tuesday.
