In form Mangotsfield United left Wey Court with three points after a comfortable 3-0 victory. It took only five minutes for the visitors to take the lead, with Neil Arndale converting a penalty after a dubious decision from referee Mike Desborough. Gs left back Nick Hutchings appeared to trip over, and the visitors forward tumbled over Hutchungs. Godalming had chances to get back into the game, but we’re denied by some good stops from Mangotsfield keeper Kevin Sawyer. First Dan Seabrook had an effort well smothered after Mark Watkins had squared the ball, then Jack Mazzone also had an effort blocked by the keeper. The visitors doubled their lead on 31 minutes, Lewis Powell volleying into the corner.
Godalming had a chance to pull a goal back early in the first half, but Dan Seabrook’s side footed effort was kept out by Sawyer. Ryan Bath grabbed Mangotsfields third on 52 minutes, capitalising on some poor defending to finish well past Oualah. From then on an uneventful half ensued, with neither side creating many chances, or looking likely to score.
Godalming travel to Thatcham this Tuesday, before making the trip across the border to face Merthyr Town next Saturday.
