In a match that finished in strange circumstances, Godalming lost 4-0 to Ryman Premier side Kingstonian. The Ks took the lead early in the first half through a fabulous long range effort which found the top corner. Stand-in ‘keeper Asen Agov made a fine save just before the break, tipping a powerful effort onto the post.
Craig Mullen made it 2-0 in the second half with a header from a corner. Soon after Gs midfielders Ben Edwards and George Short both picked up injuries, but with Godalming having made all of their subs and not being allowed to bring them back on, they were temporarily reduced to 9 men. To make up the numbers, Gs managers Jon Underwood and Neil Baker took to the pitch, with Underwood having a header well saved by the Kingstonian ‘keeper. Craig Mullen added a third for Ks, before Sam Clayton rounded off the scoring with the fourth.
Godalming’s final pre-season game will take place this Saturday (11th), when we entertain Blue Square South side Hampton & Richmond. Kick off is 3pm, and admission is £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
