A poor performance led to Godalming getting deservedly beaten 4-0 by a talented Merstham side. It took only two minutes for the visitors to take the lead, through a simple finish from Roscoe D’Sane, formerly of Aldershot and Woking amongst others. Harry Ottaway double Merstham’s lead on 31 minutes, with Godalming’s closest effort of the game coming shortly after when Gavin Smith rattled the bar, but impressive winger Fabio Saraiva added a third in first half stoppage time for Merstham.
Smith went close again for Godalming at the start of the second half, but his header from a Ryan Lake corner went narrowly wide. Liam Wright added Merstham’s fourth with a tap in at the far post, and Merstham were awarded a penalty a few minutes later when Jamie Norris fouled D’Sane. Ottaway stepped up to take the penalty but fired it high and wide. A hugely disappointing performance from Godalming, who were well beaten by a pacey, attacking Merstham side.
Godalming’s next home match is on the 20th December against Dulwich Hamlet, and admission is half price for all.
