A Leon Solomon hat-trick ensured that is was Maidenhead who entered the draw for the First Round of the FA Cup, not Godalming.
In front of a crowd of 703, the opening exchanges of the match were cagey, with John Scarborough going close with a header for the Magpies, and McClurg going close for the Gs. Maidenhead broke the deadlock after half an hour when striker Ashan Holgate chested the ball down for Martel Powell, who made no mistake with a powerful finish. Solomon scored his first of the game 8 minutes later, when his curling effort from 25 yards found the top corner, leaving Norris no chance.
Maidenhead effectively killed the game off on 47 minutes, when Solomon again cut in from the right, and his cross ended up in the back of the net. Solomon grabbed his hat-trick with ten minutes left, after a 1-2 with Holgate, and he neatly found the corner of the net. Maidenhead added their fifth on 90 minutes when Manny Williams rounded Norris and slotted the ball into the empty net.
The Gs will be disappointed with their performance on the day, but can be immensely proud of what they have achieved so far this season. There is more cup action on Saturday, as Godalming travel to Gosport Borough in the FA Trophy.
