Godalming lost 2-1 to Slough Town in the FA Trophy at Wey Court, after second half goals from Scott Harris and Ed Smith.
The visitors dominated the opening exchanges without really troubling debutant G keeper Zaki Oualah. The first real chance of the game fell to Slough’s Warren Harris, whose shot was well saved by Oualah. Dan reaD forced Jake Somerville to make a smart diving save shortly before the break, after he had saved well from an effort from Jack Mazzone.
All Godalming’s endeavor was undone 5 minutes into the second period when Scott Harris prodded past Oualah after a mazy Ed Smith run. Slough doubled their lead on 79 minutes when Smith netted with a cool finish. The Gs pulled a goal back with 7 minutes left when Sean Fraser put the ball past his own keeper after a deep cross to set up a nervy finish, however a final charge never really came with Slough comfortably seeing out the remaining minutes.
Gs XI: Oualah, Broome, Miller, Musgrove, Hutchings (Palmer), Kiri (Seabrook), Hemmings, De St Croix, Everiss (Watkins), Mazzone, Read.
