Godalming Town 1-2 Walton & Hersham

A last minute goal from Jason Henry ensured that Walton & Hersham left Wey Court with all three points, after trailing 1-0 at half time. Darren Wheeler had a perfect opportunity to give Godalming the lead in the opening minutes, but he skewed his show wide from 12 yards. Godalming had the better of the first half, with chances falling to Warren Harris and Adam Foulser, but both of them failed to test Rodney Chiweshe. The Gs took a deserved lead just before half time, when Warren Harris raced through from the left, and after Chiweshe initially blocked the ball, it then bounced free for Harris to apply a simple finish.

Walton made two changes at half time, and these had the desired effect as they grew into the game. Harris nearly doubled the Gs lead, but his effort from a tight angle bobbled agonisingly wide. Godalming survived a massive goalmouth scramble, but could not hang on any further, as Phil Williams chipped the ball into the box, allowing Purdy to hook the ball home with ten minutes left. A frantic end to the game saw Godalming have a number of handball appeals turned down, from which Walton countered, and Jason Henry latched onto a Greg Andrews pass, and slid the ball past Kyle Merson.

Godalming XI: Merson, Harrison, Simeone, Hollis, Lake, McClurg, Edwards, Wheeler, W.Harris, Read, Foulser (Dyer).
