Godalming rose to sixth place in the league after a 2-1 win over last season play-off semi finalists Whitehawk. Warren Harris fired narrowly wide for Godalming early on, but was later forced off with an injury after being on the receiving end of a heavy tackle. Sam Gargan caused the Gs defense problems with his pace and trickery, and twice Godalming had to scrambled efforts clear. Whitehawk took the lead through Pat Harding, who fired past Norris into the far corner.
Godalming came out strong at the start of the second half, with Wheeler’s pace causing Whitehawk problems. Ten minutes into the second half Scott Harris equalised for Godalming, getting in between the two Whitehawk defenders and firing in off the post. The winner came with only two minutes left on the clock, when Harris turned from scorer to provider. His cross from the right found Gavin Smith in the middle, whose header deflected off Hawks defender El-Abd and into the back off the net. Godalming held on for the final few nervy minutes, and secured three more points.
