Godalming made it 5 wins out of 5 in the league, as they defeated Uxbridge 4-1 at Wey Court on Tuesday. The visitors had the first chance of the game, a close range header forcing a reflex stop from Somerville, who did well to also block the rebound. The Gs took the lead after 7 minutes, when Warren Harris’ looping header found the net after a pin-point cross from George Short. Warren grabbed his second after 38 minutes when he finished past Elston-Bull from close range. Jack Broome then added a third in the 43rd minute, his initial effort parried by the keeper, but he buried the rebound.
Uxbridge scored the first goal against the Gs in the league this season when Kabamba won them a penalty, which was converted down the middle by Moore. George Short smashed a 20 yard volley against the crossbar soon after, and then Warren Harris was also denied by the bar. Harris did however get his hat-trick in the 83rd minute, racing through to cooly place the ball into the back of the net. The win leaves Godalming top of the league, ahead of local rivals Guildford City on goal difference.
Next up for the Gs are Dulwich Hamlet in the FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round. This game is on Sunday 9th September, kick off 2pm.
