Godalming returned to winning ways after a 4-1 victory over Whitstable Town at Wey Court. Captain Adam Foulser gave the Gs a 1-0 lead after 16 minutes, heading home unmarked from a corner. Whitstable equalised after 39 minutes, when Damien Smith gave away a penalty, with Stuart Vahid converting the spot kick.
As Whitstable started to tire in the second half, Darren Wheeler burst through and finished well past Jack Smelt to give Godalming a 2-1 lead after 65 minutes. The home side started playing with more confidence after Wheeler’s goal, and Ben Edwards gave Godalming their third, after he finished from close range. Wheeler was brought down by a Whitstable defender in the area in stoppage time, with Ryan Lake converting the penalty low to the keepers right.
Godalming travel to Banstead Athletic on Tuesday for a Surrey Senior Cup tie. Kick off is 7.30pm.
