Godalming comfortably defeated a youthful Aldershot Town XI 5-0 at Wey Court on Monday evening.
The game didn’t get off to the best of starts for Godalming, when Pietro Palladino was stretchered off with a hamstring injury in the opening minute. A bright start from the Gs was soon rewarded however when Mark Watkins side footed an Andy Crossley ball past the Shots keeper. Watkins went close again soon after with a header which was well saved, after another cross from Crossley. Further half chances fell to Antonio Simeone and Graeme Purdy, whilst Aldershot’s best chance of the half came from a corner, which went narrowly wide.
Andy Crossley doubled Godalming’s lead early in the second half, converting a Jordan Binns cross. A deft lob from Graeme Purdy made it 3-0, before an excellent touch and finish from Will Hutton made it 4-0. Substitute Jordan Page completed the scoring with a low effort with a few minutes remaining.
