The Gs produced an encouraging pre-season display at Imber Court on Sunday lunchtime despite a 0-1 defeat against Ryman Premier League side Met Police. The first half was evenly contested with neither side producing many clear goal scoring opportunities. Richard Ossai in the Gs goal produced an acrobatic stop at his near post but was otherwise largely untested in the first period.

Our hosts made several half time changes and created a number of openings before taking the lead on the hour mark. A Met forward did well to control the ball before hitting a shot from 10 yards past Ossai. Substitute Jack Mazzone almost equalised five minutes later but hit the bar with a header.

Youth Team goalkeeper Tom Beswick entered the action with 20 minutes remaining but was not called upon to make a save. Gs almost snatched a late equaliser but Pietro Palladino couldn’t beat the home keeper when through on goal.

Overall there were plenty of positives to satisfy manager Andy Hunt.

Our next opponents are Wessex Premier League side Petersfield Town on Tuesday evening. Kick will be 7.45pm at Love Lane and admission will be £3 adults and £1 for concessions.

Squad: Richard Ossai, Charlie Hutton, Nick Hutchings, Antonio Simeone, George Hardy, Gavin Miller, Will Hutton, Steve Brown, Pietro Palladino, Tom Beswick, Chris Musgrove, Dale Binns, Jack Mazzone, Mark Watkins, Graeme Purdy, Andy Crossley.
