A 95th minute penalty saw North Greenford pick up their first league victory of the season in frantic match involving two penalties and one sending off, as well as numerous goal line clearances.
The Gs got off to the worst possible start when after only two minutes Orlando Rodrigues found too much space in the area from a corner, and finished from close range to give the hosts the lead. The home side nearly double their lead on fifteen minutes, only to be denied by a goal line clearance from Nick Hutchings. At the other end Liam Roberts blasted high over the bar from 10 yards, whilst Graeme Purdy was also denied by the sprawling North Greenford keeper. Godalming pulled level in the 41st minute, when Jack Mazzone was tripped in the penalty area, but his penalty was saved low, but Liam Roberts was on hand to tuck home the rebound.
The home side had another chance cleared off the line in the opening stages of the second half, as the game continued in a frenetic manner. Both sides had chances to pull ahead, and the introduction of Darren Wheeler saw a number of inviting crosses played into the North Greenford area. As the game looked to be drawing to a close, Chris Wales was sent off after a tackle on an advancing North Greenford forward in the 90th minute. Four minutes into stoppage time North Greenford were awarded a penalty after a trip in the box – Charlie Mitchell stepped up to convert low into the corner to give the hosts their first three points of the season.
