Godalming exited the Red Insure Cup in the First Round, after a 4-2 defeat to North Greenford United. The Gs created early chances, first Warren Harris firing wide from a one on one, then Ben Edwards clipping the outside of the post after a deflected shot. Warren Harris had another golden chance, this time a free header at the back post, which ended up high and wide. Jon Palmer gave Godalming the lead in the 38th minute, after cutting inside onto his right foot and curling the ball into the far corner. Almost immediately North Greenford equalised, and then a few minutes later they took the lead from the penalty spot.
The hosts stretched their lead a few minutes into the second half, when a free kick was headed back across the face of the goal, leaving a tap in for the oncoming North Greenford player. It was 4-1 with ten minutes left when James Shipperley went down in the box, leaving Liam Hind to convert. The Gs pulled a late goal back through Warren Harris.
Godalming return to league action this Saturday as they travel to Biggleswade Town.
