Godalming’s penultimate pre-season friendly ended in convincing style as the Gs ran out 6-2 winners at Uxbridge.
Centre back Gavin Miller started the scoring, bundling the ball home from an in-swinging Adam Everiss corner. It was 2-0 soon after when Graeme Purdy latched onto an Everiss pass, and finished well past the keeper. Dan Seabrook added a third after half an hour when he finished through a crowded penalty area, and Dan Read added the fourth before half time with a close range effort that deflected off a defender.
Uxbridge made wholesale changes at half time, but within minutes Godalming were 5-0 up. Jack Broome’s free kick evaded everyone and ended up in the back of the net. Uxbridge pulled a goal back on 55 minutes with a good finish from Mark Smith into the bottom corner past Justin Courtnage. Jack Mazzone added the sixth after good work from Bouwe Bosma out wide, before Uxbridge replied to make it 6-2 after a swift counter attack was finished off by Nicke Kabamba.
Next up for Godalming are Chertsey Town at Wey Court this Saturday, before the league kicks off next Saturday at home to Paulton Rovers.
