Bank Holiday weekend August 2017 – First Team – Simon

Good afternoon everyone, Farnham at home in the FA cup was a good draw for us which probably saw us as favourites on the day. It took us a little while to get going and we seemed to give the ball away a lot or play too many long balls for my liking but we did grow into the game and took the lead through Hakim after a fancy flick from Shawn down the right-hand side. He then crossed for Hakim who turned and finished in the bottom corner. Second half apart from one chance, which Aaron saved, I don’t think they caused us many problems. Hakim who was excellent again in the second half won us two penalties which Lewis put away nicely so all in all a good 3-0 win. Lastly I have to sadly tell you that my assistant Matt Drew has left the club for one reason or another and I’m disappointed he has gone as he is a good coach and a good friend. I would like to thank him for all his hard work in the short time he has been here.

01 August 2017 — Ladies and Ladies Development Team (pre-season) – Steve

This season sees an exciting time for Ladies Football at this club. Last season certainly was one of the good news stories coming out of Godalming. Under new Management of Darren Wheeler and Steve Davies the Ladies had a real transformation which saw them just miss out on a league title but did see them get promoted to Tier 4 of Ladies Football.

This Season sees even more change, due to high demand and popularity there is a now a new Development side which will be Managed by Pat Adams (ex Fulham youth coach) and assisted by Sam Bonniface (ex Ladies player). They go into Division 3 of the Greater London League and will play their home games at Broadwater school. For the First team it’s all change too, they welcome a Goalkeeping coach (Ben Hacker) and Fitness coach (Laura Funnell) as well as a host of new players. New players seem to be attracted to the positive, exciting and ambitious Godalming Ladies set up with players joining from Fulham, Wimbledon, Watford, Portsmouth and more

The Ladies game in this country is growing at a fast pace at the moment and Darren & Steve have a clear vision to grow this club at the same pace. They would love your support each week at the games where you will see great football. Last season saw over 130 supporters come to one game and they hope that will be the case at even more games this season!
