An important point was won in a hard fought game at title-chasers Whitehawk on Saturday. The home side lived up to their league position early on, as they dominated the opening ten minutes. Godalming weathered the early storm, and grew into the game. Just as the Gs had got a foothold, some neat play from Whitehawk in the middle resulted in Jerahl Hughes firing past Kyle Merson into the corner on 28 minutes. Both teams had some half chances following the goal, but the teams entered the half time break at 1-0.
A half time sub saw Scott Harris come off for Brett Cooper, which allowed the Gs to get more of a control on the midfield. Godalming scored the equaliser 5 minutes into the second half, when Adam Foulser flicked home a Warren Harris corner. Godalming could then have taken the lead three minutes later, but Warren Harris had his one on one saved by Winterton. Warren had a golden chance to snatch all three points but again, his one on one was saved by Winterton.
Godalming face Corinthian Casuals at home this Saturday, and then travel to Chipstead on Easter Monday. Both kick off at 3pm.
Godalming XI: Merson, Harrison, Hollis, Foulser, Lake (Palmer), Edwards, McClurg, Wheeler, W.Harris, S.Harris (Cooper), Read (Dyer). Subs not used: Simeone, D.Smith.
